Having a baby never made us hold back our love for exploring places. We are always spotted touring various destinations during weekends and holidays. initially we used to go for diaper bags as, it is a statement accessory for every new mom, but later on we agreed on to use spacious back-packs everywhere as it's easy to carry and would leave our hands free to hold our baby.
No matter where we go with our daughters we have the following in our bag. This is our main check-list before getting outside our home.
- Diaper
- Wet-wipes
- Tissue
- 2 or 3 Cotton wash cloth
- Nappy rash cream
- Spare dresses with matching sock and hair clip
- Water bottle with filtered , boiled and cooled water
- Sippy cup
- Milk bottles for either of them
- Formula dispenser-always check and load the dispenser
- A small flask with hot water.
- Flannel in case of an infant
- Caps for both of them
- One or few plush toy or any favorite toy.
- Hand sanitizer
- A small snack box containing Asiya favorite dry fruits.
- My wallet
- My mobile phone.
When we have planned for a longer trip or visiting an occasion that last longer and includes our children's meal time.
- Atleast two servings of puréed meal for Athika
- One main meal for Asiya
- Some cut and packed fruits /boiled veggies according to what's available
- One uncut apple or pear with a pealer
- More number of diapers for both of them
- More spare cloths
- Moisturizing cream
- Night suit (for occasions that surpasses their bedtime) mostly we avoid attending such functions or leave early. And when we leave we feed and dress them for bed because mostly when we reach home, they would already be asleep.
When we make trips that lasts for day, we mostly carry our Phillips baby food maker, food that can be cooked easily like oats, corn grains, etc that are suitable for asiya. This is because we don't prefer any outside food for our children.
Asiya is two years and three months of age now. She is allergic to many ingredients in our common food. So even today I carry her meal with me and I avoid giving any food from outside. I hear a lot of talking behind my back as to why I still carry food for her. I also hear a lot of sympathies from the people who love my daughter when she isn't given something everyone's having. I totally ignores both comments and moves ahead.
She's well trained I say. She rarely makes a fuss.
Earlier when she was younger, and used to demand certain food I made her understood that those were the things hurting her face and skin. Well Now,she asks me "Umma , if I have this will 'IT' come here" and points on her cheek , as that's the place her rash becomes evident. If I nod, she confirms once more and then herself prefer not to have them. For a two year old, she's a fast learner and an understanding daughter. So we take all effort to give the best to her.
All moms with children having food allergy, carry your baby food. you should be the one deciding what to give them and what not-to, because your the one who is going to deal with them when they get sick.
And yes our bag is always bulky and that's our LOVE.
